We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented In-house Interim Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing various financial activities, including the preparation of consolidated budgets, monthly consolidated accounts, year-end statutory accounts, mid-year forecasts, cash forecasts, and assisting various tax returns. The In-House Accountant will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory standards.

You’ll be able to use your professional knowledge to tackle plenty of interesting technical challenges and you’ll enjoy the chance to work closely with acknowledged experts in our various business units as well as external specialists.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Knowledge and qualifications 
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent) is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Understanding of the unique financial challenges and regulatory framework of the charity sector. Knowledge of FRS102 and SORP.
Experience
  • Producing comprehensive accounts from beginning to end for a similar or larger size organisation (e.g. Staff number 150+; multiple revenue streams/business activities with turnover £25 million +) (essential).
  • Proven track record of preparing consolidated budgets, monthly consolidated accounts, year-end statutory accounts, mid-year forecasts and cash forecasts (essential).
  • Experience and knowledge of VAT return with partial exemption and corporation tax (desirable)
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a relevant accounting or finance role.
  • Previous experience in audit, particularly within the charity sector, is highly desirable. Familiarity with audit procedures, documentation, and best practices.
 
Skills and abilities 
  •  Highly numerate with advanced Excel skills (essential, will be tested).  
  • Advanced user of Access Financials, Access Analytics and Access Office Integration (desirable).
  • User experience of Salesforce (desirable)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
