Rianna Raymond-Williams

As part of her work, she will collaborate with a range of stakeholders to understand the challenges and barriers Black and other minoritised communities experience when engaging with health systems. She intends to work with community members, academics, practitioners, and activists to devise solutions and initiatives with the hope of creating better health outcomes for Black communities in Lambeth and Southwark.

Rianna will also be working on the Wellcome Trust Partnership Shifting the Power which aims to explore community-centred research and funding models to address health inequities in South London and beyond. She is currently pursuing a PhD, where she intends to explore how Black women in the UK make sense of their sexual identity.

Prior to joining Impact on Urban Health, Rianna worked in Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) for the last 10 years, most recently as a Sexual Health Advisor for the National Health Service (NHS). She has also freelanced as a journalist for the likes of The Independent, The Guardian, Galdem and Black Ballad. Rianna is passionate about storytelling and using creative approaches to addressing health inequality.
