Congratulations to Lord Babudu as he leaves Impact on Urban Health
Foundation thanks Peter Babudu, Executive Director of Impact on Urban Health, for his contribution and wishes him good luck on his departure.
This month, Guy’s & St Thomas’ Foundation is saying farewell to Peter Babudu as he leaves his role as Executive Director of Impact on Urban Health.
Peter leaves the Foundation following his appointment to the House of Lords in January 2026. Since joining Impact on Urban Health in July 2023, he has led the organisation as it developed a new strategy which has strengthened our programmes and partnerships.
Under his stewardship, Impact on Urban Health has achieved significant milestones in making urban areas healthier places for everyone to live. It launched the largest ever Health and Wellbeing survey in Lambeth and Southwark, reflecting our commitment to listening to the voices in our community. It harnessed the power of data to influence policy change through our Urban Health Index and State of Urban Health research. Members of the team also gave evidence on healthy food environments in the House of Lords and to the Environmental Audit Committee on the health effects of air pollution.
Impact on Urban Health has worked with hundreds of partners to effect major policy changes including free school meal expansion and the abolishment of the two-child limit on benefits.
Peter’s influence has been outstanding. The Foundation would like to thank him for the leadership and insight he has demonstrated throughout his tenure and wish him good luck for the future.
As Impact on Urban Health prepares to welcome a new leader, Impact on Urban Health remains committed to building on Peter’s legacy and the progress that has been made to helping everyone live a healthier life, for longer.
We are very proud of Peter’s appointment, which is a testament to his career to date, including his leadership at Impact on Urban Health. The experience and insight he brings to his role is exactly the kind of representation we want to see more of in the House of Lords, to help us create a healthier society for all.
