SC1 Strategy Launch

SC1 London has launched its new strategy setting out how the partnership plans to harness life sciences to improve health and drive inclusive economic growth across South Central London.

At Guy’s & St Thomas’ Foundation, we’re proud to be a part of SC1 London.

SC1 London is a growing ecosystem of people, places and partners dedicated to world-leading innovation in health and life sciences, all in south central London.

As an independent Foundation dedicated to helping improve health through innovation and addressing healthy inequity for local communities, we are delighted to be founding partners and board members of SC1 London.

Together with partners, King’s College London, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, and the London Boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark, we’re growing a health and life sciences ecosystem to improve health and drive inclusive economic growth.

Our approach is built on four pillars:

  • Innovation and enterprise – moving bold ideas from lab to life and supporting health equity for all
  • Community and talent – shaping a future driven by local communities and inclusive economic growth
  • Place – unlocking the full potential of our life sciences spaces
  • Networks – bringing people, places and partners together

Commenting on the launch, Chief Executive of Guy’s & St Thomas’ Foundation, Laurie Lee, said:

“As founding partners of SC1 London, we have already seen how the SC1 has been able to unlock investment and help make South London a global leader in health and life-sciences.

“The launch of the new strategy gives SC1 London even more focus on providing job opportunities in health and life-sciences for people in Lambeth and Southwark as well as building the skills for young people in our boroughs, to become the next generation of scientists.

“We are delighted to continue working our partners on delivering the central pillars of the new strategy – Innovation & Enterprise, Place, Community & Talent and Networks. This is an exciting time for SC1 London and delivery of the strategy will help improve health through innovation and addressing healthy inequity in local communities.”

The new strategy will support innovation and drive inclusive growth as London’s growing health and life sciences innovation district.
