Sara joined the Trust Engagement Team as Patient and Public Engagement Specialist. Sara is jointly based at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (Patient and Public Engagement Team) and the Foundation.

She provides strategic support to our NHS Charities (Guy’s & St Thomas’ Charity, Evelina Charity, and Guy’s Cancer Charity) to develop and establish a new patient and public engagement function in the Charity’s grant-funding cycle.

Sara is passionate about public and patient engagement, and her commitment to tackle health and social inequalities has been shown throughout her education and career to date.

Previously, Sara worked as a Research Fellow at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and Liverpool University on several National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR)-funded projects in the UK, Cameroon, and Kenya. In particular, she used visual participatory methods (photovoice) to involve diverse and under-served communities in public health research and as a tool to advocate for social and policy change.

Sara holds a PhD in Public Health from Liverpool University and a MSc in Public Health and Health Promotion. She currently holds Honorary Research positions at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and Liverpool University, where she continues to support colleagues on NIHR projects (Clean-Air Africa Unit) and equality, diversity, inclusion (EDI) and public engagement activities (NIHR School for Public Health Research).
