Prominent investment executive joins our team

We are excited to welcome Ethan Hall as our Chief Investment Officer, who will lead our endowment and complete our Executive team from May 2021.

Over the last three years, Ethan has been CIO of Kinship Trust Company in Chicago, managing the investment assets of its clients including charitable trust portfolios supporting life sciences innovation and other causes. Prior to that, Ethan was CIO at Weybourne Limited in London, the family office of James Dyson, responsible for designing, building, and managing the family’s investment portfolios as well as building the investment team and operations. After starting his career with Bain & Company the strategy consultants, in San Francisco, Ethan built an equity and derivatives fund management company before working across investment asset classes as Director of Research at Partners Capital.

Ethan will be working closely with our Chief Executive and Investment Committee as part of the wider Executive team to lead our endowment, helping us grow and evolve the currently almost £1 billion in assets under management. We set our endowment dual objectives: financial returns and health impact, using our role as an investor to build a healthier society. Ethan will have joint responsibility for our organisational strategy and will lead a long-term global multi-asset investment strategy focused on continuing to grow and preserve the value of our endowment, particularly in the areas of investment policy, impact investing, ESG investing and engagement.

Born and raised in the mid-western US, Ethan holds a BSc Physics and an MBA both from Stanford University in California.
