Guy’s & St Thomas’ Foundation appoints Interim CEO

We are pleased to announce that Laurie Lee will be joining us as interim CEO from the 24th April.

Laurie brings a wealth of experience in senior leadership roles, including eight years as Chief Executive of CARE International UK, one of the UK’s major humanitarian and global poverty charities. Laurie also holds board positions at the British Gas Energy Trust, an independent charity, and Girls First Finance, a fintech social enterprise.

Laurie previously worked for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which works to reduce global health inequality and poverty around the world. As Deputy Director of Policy & Advocacy he changed the way the Foundation partnered with policymakers, so it could achieve change at scale.

Laurie says: “I am delighted to be joining the Foundation. I have worked for 25 years to reduce health and social inequalities in the UK and globally and have lived on the border of Lambeth and Southwark for over 20 years. I really like the Foundation’s clear focus on place, on the broad social determinants of health inequalities, on pioneering original approaches and working with others to affect change on a bigger scale. I am looking forward to working with all of you across the Foundation, to contribute more to reduce socially determined health inequalities right here, and to support staff and patients of Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.”

Laurie has been appointed as interim CEO for one year to lead the organisation while the Board recruits a permanent Chief Executive.
