This month we’re welcoming a new addition to our board of trustees. Susanne will apply her vast commercial experience to help us on our mission to build a healthier society.

An expansive career

Over her decades-long career, Susanne Given has been at the leading edge of retail and direct-to-consumer sectors, including in health. She has held several executive director roles working for fast growing digital-first businesses as well as recognised retail industry leaders. For example, she has held roles at UK department stores John Lewis and Harrods, and retailer TK Maxx. In addition, she is also former chief operating officer of SuperDry, a FTSE 250 company.

Susanne’s work history also boasts several high-profile advisory and non-executive board seats across a breadth of industries. Currently, she chairs the boards of online furniture retailer MADE.com and digital fashion brand Hush UK. Also, she is a non-executive director for venture capital firm Forward Partners Plc, and Trent Holdings – one of India’s leading players in the retail industry. Before that, she advised Morrisons, consumer health technology brand Push Doctor, financial services consultancy Deloitte, and luxury travel provider Eurostar.

Guy’s & St Thomas’ Foundation’s overarching desire to have real sustainable impact on people’s health in local communities, as well as provide a more global perspective on challenges related to health inequality everywhere, is what makes this organisation truly unique at this important time.

Kieron Boyle, our chief executive, added, “We’re delighted to have Susanne join our board as we continue to invest in fresh thinking to tackle big health challenges. Susanne brings her unique experience in global business and digital transformation, as well as retail sector expertise that will be invaluable as we work with all our partners to help us make our cities and communities healthier places to live.”

Our board

Susanne joins ten other experts on our board. Together, they help shape the strategic direction of our work to make cities healthier places to live, our efforts as the charity for Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, and how we manage our assets for health impact.
